Common Door Questions

Here are a few questions we hear often. We’ll talk through your specific doors in more detail during the visit.

It depends on the condition of the frame and how out-of-square the opening is. In some cases, we can reuse the frame and hardware location with a new slab. If there’s damage, rot, or major alignment issues, a pre-hung unit with a new frame is usually the better long-term solution.

For a straightforward replacement, many single doors can be completed in part of a day, including demo, installation, alignment, and basic trim. More complex doors with glass, sidelights, rot repair, or stucco/brick work may take longer. We’ll walk through timing before any work begins.

Yes. We can install new locksets, deadbolts, smart locks, and reinforced strike plates, and make sure the frame and hinges are aligned to reduce sagging and improve security. If you already have specific hardware in mind, we can install that as well.

In most cases we can get very close on style and profile, especially for common door and trim types. We’ll review available products and discuss whether you want an exact match, a close match, or a full update to all doors in a hallway or level so everything feels cohesive.
Typical door projects: Many door repairs and replacements range between $250–$7,500+, depending on door type, framing work, glass, hardware, and finish level.
